The Kabul we see here is a place of great history and great cruelty, where Eastern and Western characters alike search for redemption in God or heroin or other people. A British woman seeks the grave of Cain only to disappear completely, an Muslim woman goes mad in passion for her country and makes a eery prophetic statement that the Taliban is coming to New York, and another man tries to persuade a western girl the beauties of an invented language with no history of oppression.
This is no AIA, but it is smart, conscientious, political, and eerily prophetic.

One of these items ships sooner than the other. I adore Kushner, of course I don’t -like- all of Angels in America; similar to ‘Fisher King’, it’s not really something I could -like- but I greatly appreciate them both.
His language is rich, his canvas is vast and his storytelling dynamic. Tony Kushner has always homebkdy outwards. Virginia Eames, an aspiring political pundit, attempts to negotiate her way through the constantly shifting landscape of cutthroat commentary and learns what it takes to be a star. Homeboyd just wasn’t the type of literature that I really enjoy and I found homwbody writing hard to follow sometimes in the first act — it was an intentional choice by the author to make a point, but still hard to follow. The touch which does not understand is the touch jabul corrupts … and which corrupts itself.
